Story
When I was 18 years old my father was diagnosed with cancer, by the time I reached 19 he died. Only 9 months had passed since he was diagnosed when he passed away. After 16 years alone, my mother found someone to share her life with, someone that made her smile again, sadly last Easter he was also diagnosed with cancer. Although it is horrible for anyone to die, the worst thing is what cancer does to the person that suffers it, it is both physically and soul destroying. If I can contribute in any way to make things easier for anyone touched by this terrible disease I will. I am doing this for my father, my mother’s friend, my mother, my sisters and all those people that have been at some point of their lives affected by cancer.

A woman is said to be in her prime in her 40's - this is usually the case. But for my aunt this was not the case. At 46 she was diagnosed with cancer, after months of treatment we thought she was recovering only to find out that the cancer had spread through her body. We were helpless - there was nothing we could say or do but to wait - wait for the cancer to take her whilst in her prime and leave behind her only son and her husband. At 47 my aunt died. I am doing the race for her.

My dad was diagnosed with cancer on his kidney and survived. With thanks to the specialist department it was removed and he is now well. So I will be doing the race for him.

As many people I have lost members of my family and friends to this terrible disease I will be running for my best friend’s mother who I never had the chance to say goodbye, my friend’s 16 year old sister who completely destroyed the family by dying within 1 week of being diagnosed and also all of those who thanks to treatment are today Cancer survivors! I will do the race with them in mind.
The main goal is to raise funds and awareness so in the future we could prevent it or even cure it altogether and make Cancer a thing of the past!
