Story
Cancer, we're coming to get you!
Jacky's Story...
I was diagnosed with breast cancer in September 2003. I now have secondary breast cancer, which has spread to my neck. I have had cancer for 9 out of the 10 years. I have had chemo twice and radiotherapy twice and I am now on Herceptin and chemo tablets. This is "until progression"
I have a very strong disposition and take this disease no more seriously than having the flu.
I am trying my hardest to fight this vile disease. I have seen too many people suffer and die from various cancers. I am determined to take part in this years "Race for Life" along with my friends Minna and Helena in order to raise money for Cancer Research.
I won't find it easy but I will sweat blood and tears to finish the race.
Please find it in your hearts to donate money to sponser me for this most important cause.
Minna's story...
Firstly, lets start by saying cancer doesn't just affect the individual but everyone in their surroundings...
In 2007, my amazing nan aka nanny RoRo, lost her battle with pancreatic cancer. She was fun, lively, bubbly and very talkative... I have previously run race for life for her and this year she is one of the reasons why I am doing it again.
Secondly, my mum unfortunately was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011. She is on the mend. However, looking back it was very tough. The hardest thing I can imagine ever going through. There were highs and lows and we all had such amazing support. I remember saying "why do all bad things happen to good people?" It became part of our daily lives, conversations and thoughts...
Lastly, I am running is for mums two close friends, one who lost their battle and another one who is fighting strong. Love you both! x
Remember.. CANCER DOESN'T CARE WE DO!
Helena's story...
In 2011 I was diagnosed with Cancer. It has been a struggle at times but with the help and support of my family and friends I have got through and it has made me a stronger person.
In 2012 my friend Lauren lost her battle against cancer. We had been through so much together and she helped me tremendously through hard times. She was a truly remarkable person and I miss her very much.
2013 is going to be a good year, onwards and upwards!
