Story
Cancer, we're coming to get you!
This is my challenge. I am going to run 10k WITH A BABY on the 14th of July 2013. I'm doing this to raise money and awareness for Cancer Research UK.
I have run 10ks before, and in the past it was more for fitness reasons than anything else. Now it is much more important than that. I will be running the 10k in Stevenage with my daughter who will be 10 months old at the time, and I will be pushing her in a jogging buggy. This time around, running 10k is much more daunting - before training for this event, I hadn't run since before I was pregnant. And running whilst pushing a jogging buggy and a 20+ pound baby is definitely something new to me!
We are running for my grandmother, Hannah's GG, who has been diagnosed with lung cancer. I need to feel like I am doing something in order to make a difference in the fight against cancer. Although my funding goal of £200 might not be the largest sum of money ever raised, it is something. I want to show my daughter the importance of taking action and trying to make a difference in the world, and I think there is no better time to start than now.
My husband and I are from Canada and are living and working in the UK, so we have been asking both our UK and Canadian friends to contribute to our run. Cancer doesn't pay attention to borders - it is the world's problem and we need to work together to fight against it
