Cancer, we're coming to get you!

A few months ago my family lost a very special person who affected all of our lives positively and who we loved very much. Betty Adams, my great grandmother, was always so kind and loving to everyone around her and everyone remembers her in this way. Not in anyone's wildest imagination did we expect her to fall so very ill many years ago. She was always seen as healthy and on the go all the time, but she started experiencing health complications. The suffering increased and increased to the point where she was in excruitiating pain and whereby she was finally diagnosed with cancer. Being told she only had a matter of months to live shook the whole family to a core, and those chilling words I think will always echo through our thoughts when we remember the pain cancer put her through. It was shocking how this illness can cause a person to deteriorate so rapidly that they lose touch with their old lives and give up hope. The most heart-breaking feeling I felt throughout this ordeal was that my great nanny felt like she had nothing to live for and to give up as she was in so much pain. The fact that we all visited regularly seemed to prove to be her rock as the smile she had on her face when me or my little brother visited was worth more than anything else. So from this I feel that for Nan and for everyone else we should NEVER give up. Persistance is vital if we wish that someday in the future, my story or anyone else's similar story is unheard of. That day will come if we never give up.
