Please dig deep and sponsor me online &ndash; it&rsquo;s quick, easy and totally secure..</p> <p>My reasons for joining race for life:</p> <p>We found out in December 2010 that mum had breast cancer.</p> <p>This was detected by her having a routine mammogram.</p> <p>I felt shocked and heartbroken for my mum as I watched her breakdown in tears and there wasnt anything I could say to comfort her and make things better.</p> <p>We have been going through a tough time in the last 6 years as a family&nbsp;as my dad was diagnosed with dementia and is now in later stages.</p> <p>Mum has been his full time carer since then and watching her dealing with&nbsp;cancer now is so hard for all of us and especially for her.</p> <p>I admire her strength and courage and love her so much.</p> <p>She has had two surgeries since December and&nbsp;is now in her first week of chemotherapy treatment.</p> <p>I want to help more people beat cancer.</p> <p>Events like Race for Life are vital in funding Cancer Research UK&rsquo;s life-saving work into preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer.
