Race for Life London - Finsbury Park (Sun) 2011 · 24 July 2011 ·
Geraldine Hazzard ran the Race for Life for the last 7 years, in July 2010 she completed a 10k.She was passionate about raising money for cancer research and had every intention of running again this summer - even when she was diagnosed with lung cancer in September 2010. To our very great sadness this was not to be, she lost her fight against cancer in February. Geraldine ran to raise money for Cancer Research but also for the memory of her beloved sister Jane Stockdale, who died of esophageal cancer in June 2007.
These were two seriously fantastic women and now it is our privilege, as their daughters and nieces, to run for them both on 24th July. We'll be carrying on G's torch (much like the Olympic one - only much slower!) and continuing to raise money for Cancer Research.
Now we fervently hope that this is reason enough for you to dig deep into your pockets, but just in case it isn't, we feel we should mention one more thing. We do not run. Ever. Seriously, ask anyone. And it is going to hurt- a lot. So we ask you - think of a number (a nice big one) and then think of the four of us - red faced, sweating, puffed out and most likely being lapped by a 50-strong herd of fleet-footed octogenarians, and then double it!
Thank you all for your help and support.
