R.I.P Dad..... Everlasting peace is yours now.... ♥
Well here we are again,
The year before last Dad was diagnosed with Cancer of the Stomach, he was given approximately 1-2 years left. After chemotheraphy, various keyhole surgery, hospital visits and stays, the doctors told us that the Cancer was aggressive and had spread into his Liver also. Dad put up one hell of a fight, but Sadly on June 17th 2012 he lost that fight. Fathers day of all days, Dads way of making sure he was remembered I suppose. The heartbreak and pain during his fight, watching a loved one suffer unable to physically help or take their pain away is unbearable, to know their losing also is such a hard thing for anyone to ever have to endure, let alone the agony and pain that Dad was himself going through. The loss then of Dad just added to the heartbreak and pain and it is a pain of such an intensity that is impossible to try to describe.
Last year both myself and my mother took part in the Cwmbran Race For Life Event, we did a fantastic time of 46:26. We did the Race last year to try and raise as much money as we could to try and prevent people being in the situation we were in and feeling the hurt and pain we did. Also to try and finally see some more success stories of people actually beating Cancer. Its a cruel disease for those who get it and those who's lives are affected by it.
This year's Race will be a very different one. The race last year was exactly one week after losing Dad so that day was very much a haze of images that I can't process properly. This year I am hoping it will be one to remember. It will still be a very hard and extremely emotional day not just for myself but for those who participate. But this year we know we won't be able to try and beat last years time as intended. This is for two reasons not only will I be nearly 35 weeks pregnant, so means a very steady stroll for me, but myself and my mother (who hopefully wont have hurt her ankle and leg this year) will also be accompanied by my Nan. Hense the name Nearly 4 Generations.
My nan is one of those success stories, she had Skin Cancer in her arm and after having surgery to have it removed, she is now healthy and Cancer free.
Another member of our family has recently been diagnosed with Cancer and they are currently waiting for a treatment plan to be put into place. Our best wishes go out to you Linda, show us it can be beaten and we do have more fighters in the family, and also to her partner Robert for the support he is and will be providing Linda and family during this hard time.
It is too late to help my Dad, but with the help of donations, no matter how big or small, we can help fund research into this disease to find a cure and help others, its out there somewhere. Cancer takes too many peoples lives too often. Its time to beat it!
Times Precious, Don't waste it. Lifes too short for regrets, grudges or fueds. Forgive, Forget and Love.
Thank you for your time reading our story, and Thank you for your support.
Together we will beat Cancer.
