(14 June 2009)   Well I did it and I managed to run nearly all the way - completed the 5km in 28 minutes 18 seconds and am very, very chuffed!  The first person over the line did it in 22 mins so I wasn't that far behind, and was in the first 30 (of 6,800!)  So a huge thank you to everyone who has sponsored me and supported me!  Over £580 for Cancer Research UK is no mean feat and I'm over the moon with that!  THANK YOU!

9 June 2009:  Only a few days to go before I run!  I've been training really hard and have lost nearly 2 stone in the process.  I hope to do everyone proud by actually being able to run the 5km!  For those of you who have seen me recently, you will know that at the time I signed up for this I couldn't even run to the bathroom, never mind 5km, I was so unfit and overweight.  Now I think I have a real chance, thanks to the support of everyone who has sponsored me, my friends at Weight Watchers, my gym buddy Suzy and my family!  Thank you all so much! 

This is the third Race for Life I have taken part in, and this time it is really close to my heart.  My dear friend Fred was diagnosed with breast cancer last year at the age of only 40.  The quick diagnosis and prompt treatment she received can only have been possible thanks to the work of organisations such as Cancer Research UK.
