Rugby League is again rising to the occasion as RFL staff past and present prepare to take on Yorkshire’s Three Peaks in support of Cancer Research UK.
Cancer Research UK is the chosen charity of RFL Coach Education Manager, Richard Tunningley, who has recently been diagnosed with lung cancer. In a show of support and solidarity with Richard, his colleagues from the RFL’s talent and performance department will set out on Friday 28 May to conquer Yorkshire’s Three Peaks: Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside and Inglebrough.
They’ll start and finish in Horton-in-Ribblesdale, taking in more than 5,000 feet of ascent and descent over the 24 miles in between. Cancer Research UK is the world’s largest independent cancer research charity and the single biggest charitable funder of research at the Institute of Cancer Research. Giving just £5 can help beat cancer sooner by supporting the institute’s running costs; £15 could help tackle early diagnosis and prevent; £30 can help improve treatments for patients with lung cancer by covering the cost of a radiotherapy trial for a day.
