#TheBodyWalk is a national campaign to raise awareness of vascular disease and for imperative funding. We are hoping everyone can get involved to collectively walk the 60,000 miles of the Arterial Tree! Walk, run, cycle, swim ... it's up to you!

Story

September is Vascular Awareness Month and the Circulation Foundation are running #TheBodyWalk as a national campaign to raise awareness of vascular disease and imperative funding.By increasing awareness and raising funds, the Circulation Foundation are able to continue supporting patients to live their best lives whilst having to cope with serious circulatory diseases. Although these diseases affect 40% of the population, they are not well known by most people.I am joining the challenge to collectively walk the 60,000 miles of the Arterial Tree.

As many of you know we lost our beloved Nan/Mam Valerie in January this year. My Nan suffered for years with rheumatoid and osteoarthritis but still was so independent and didn’t let anything stop her from doing what she wanted to 😊 The last few years my Nan started to struggle with her legs and would be in excruciating pain just doing the simplest things. In August last year she developed swelling in her legs and was hospitalised, we learnt that Nan was suffering from vascular problems which was also part of the pain in her legs and affected her heart 😢 after extended stays in hospital we lost her in January. We want to raise awareness of vascular disease, as it is not a commonly know disease,  yet, affects so many and their families.
