There I was the other week happily sitting on my sofa watching the telly and doing all those things I know I really shouldn’t (chocolate, cigarettes and scrumpy…) when I was struck by the thought I had forgotten to do something. Having ticked off all the obvious things I realised what it was - "Oh yes, I know, I haven't done Race for Life for a while and I am too late to enter this year. Plus I promised last time that it was my last 5k and I would tax myself a little more. Hmmmm what to do instead??"

So I have a little look for inspiration and find a nice little 10km race in Tunbridge Wells. Yes, I know they do nice little 10km races in Reading, Newbury and Basingstoke, but why travel 10 miles to do something I hate, I mean run, when I can travel 100??? And anyway you know me, I like a challenge! SOOOOO… I wasn't just looking for a 10km run... oh no, that would be too easy <splutter> No I was looking for a 10km assault course... and that’s what I found in Kent. It's called the Major Series and is run by British Military Fit. You can see information about it here: http://www.majorseries.com - check out the video that shows the sort of thing I'll be doing – if nothing else you can have a good laugh at my expense! 

As you all know I torture myself in this way not for fun, but to raise vital funds for Cancer Research. I run to give hope to those I know who are bravely fighting on and in memory of my big brother Russell, of my fab granddad Bert, of Andy's lovely Grandpa, and now also in memory of the late, great AJB who is much missed by all his friends in the Turners Arms. And that is where you guys come in... 

Cancer Research rely on donations from you lovely people (and stupid people like me doing silly things to encourage you!) to continue their amazing work into finding a cure for this life destroying disease.
