On 22 April 2018 I will be running the London Marathon, dressed in full rhino costume.

Why? The answer is that the world's rhino species are currently facing on of the greatest threats to their survival in history and I want to do my bit to save them from extinction.

Extensive poaching continues to threaten the survival of the rhino. In 2007, 13 rhinos were poached in South Africa. Ten years later in 2017, the figure was 1,028, a 7,908% increase. With only around 25,000 rhino left worldwide, if these poaching rates continue, the rhino does not have much longer on the planet. It makes it all the more sickening whe you consider that rhinos are slaughtered for their horns, which are sold to use for ancient chinese medicine (it has been proven that the horn has no actual benefit, it is made of the same material as our fingernails and hair) or as a status symbol.
