Story
In September I will be leading a climb up Mount Kilimanjaro with Wales Rugby Legend Martyn Williams in aid of Velindre Cancer Centre. I’ve performed in front of UK troops in Iraq, and 60,000 people at Twickenham for Help The Heroes, I've tried to make the Queen laugh with a potato, and had a pop at Prince Charles for parking outside my house at the Royal Variety Performance, but this is my toughest challenge yet.
At 19,340ft, Kilimanjaro is Africa's highest peak and the tallest freestanding volcano in the world. We’ll be leaving behind all mod-cons and luxuries, walking an average of 7 hours a day and on summit night, walking for 20 hours in -20 degrees.
This is a monster challenge, especially given that I'm about as fit as a panda. But everyone knows someone who has been affected by cancer and I'm really pleased to be able to contribute, and ensure that the Trek of a Lifetime raises a significant amount for Velindre Cancer Centre. There is still room for others to join me, so if you fancy walking for 7-8 hours a day, 5 nights of freezing temperatures, strange food and a midnight trek of around 18 hours in minus 15-20 degrees, this is the trip for you. If you can't join me, but would like to show your support, please sponsor me.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and help me and Velindre.
Many thanks
