Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On 16 October 2022 I will be running my first ever marathon around the scenic Loch Rannoch in Perthshire.  This is an incredibly significant event for me, firstly because of the date and secondly because running any distance has been a huge achievement for me.

This marathon falls exactly 6 years to the day when a previously undetected brain aneurysm ruptured and I suffered a subarachnoid haemorrhage.  I was initially admitted to hospital in Aberdeen before being rushed to Edinburgh for emergency brain surgery the next morning.

I faced a long, tough and exhausting recovery, during which time I made, and continue to make use of Headway's online resources and social media platforms.

I'm incredibly lucky to have made such a good recovery when the initial prognosis was far from certain, so I am raising funds to help continue the important work Headway do in supporting people with brain injuries.
