Story
On 28th December 2019 my wife and I were given the news that any expecting parent dreads; our daughters heart had stopped. At 38 weeks, we were ready to welcome her into our family within days, and in an instant our plans had been completely destroyed.
At this time we were completely lost, not knowing how we would, or even if we could, get back to some semblance of normal. Zephyr's gave us a space to talk openly about our feelings an worries in both individual and group sessions; to meet others that were going through loss and find people who truly understood how we were feeling. Zephyr's provides invaluable help and support and I wouldn't like to think how we would have navigated through those early days without them.
I'm supporting Zephyr's, a specialist bereavement support centre on the grounds of Nottingham City Hospital, for parents and families who have experienced the death of a baby or child of any age or gestation. Zephyr's is entirely charitably funded; the centre receives no core funding, nor NHS funds. It needs to raise at least £30,000 every year to keep doing the brilliant work that it does. Since opening over 3 years ago Zephyr's has provided professional counselling, therapeutic activities, friendship, peer support and a peaceful, caring environment for hundreds of bereaved parents and families from all over Nottinghamshire and beyond. As one visitor said "Zephyr's helps people to feel like facing the world again."Zephyr's truly makes a difference. With love at its heart, the centre holds and supports bereaved families, please help me, to help them, continue offering this amazing support...
