Shaving my head for The Sophie Lancaster Foundation · 24 June 2017

Following the horrific murder of Sophie Lancaster, her family wanted to ensure a lasting legacy to their beautiful, bright creative daughter and so The Sophie Lancaster Foundation was established and it became a registered charity in 2009. We do this through various means including education.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On the 11 August 2007, Sophie Lancaster was kicked to death in a park in Bacup, Lancashire, for no other reason than because she looked different. It should never of happened in the first place. After Sophie's death her mother Sylvia set up a charity in her name called The Sophie Lancaster Foundation not only to give her daughter a lasting legacy but also to raise awareness and educate others about hate crime, to challenge the prejudice and intolerance towards people from alternative subcultures and to campaign to have the UK Hate Crime legislation extended to include people from alternative subcultures or Lifestyle and Dress. Sophie and Sylvia Lancaster are both huge inspirations to me, this is a subject very close to my heart as I myself have had altercations or hate in the past because of the way I looked or dressed, so for The Sophie Lancaster Foundation and in memory of Sophie, I'll be getting rid of my locks and going bald.
