Thank you for visiting our page! Our story so far is..
In 2015 our family were one of the 360 families that stayed at the Ronald McDonald House Glasgow that year. Our son Eden was born with a condition called Craniosynostosis and underwent major neurosurgery at Yorkhill Children's Hospital. While Eden was being treated at the hospital his family were able to stay in the Ronald McDonald house at no cost to ourselves to be close to him in his time of need. Our boy fought through his condition and we were one of the lucky families that were able to go home together that year. This charity is so important to many families and really helps to take the pressure off parents whilst they are trying to stay strong for their child.
Since leaving the house 2 years ago our family have been keen to pay the Ronald McDonald house back for helping us through the most difficult time we have faced to date. In 2015 Michael and I done a 10,000ft skydive for the house and last year we climbed Ben Nevis alongside other family members. Brothers, Uncles, Grannies & Grandad's have all helped us raise money for the house.
Since 2015 the house now homes over 500 families a year while their child is receiving treatment at the hospital. RMH Glasgow is a small independent charity who receive no government funding and it costs approximately £400,000 a year to keep the doors of the house open 365 days a year. Without the house families would not be able to be close to their child whilst they are in hospital and sometimes the best medicine for a sick child is their mum & dad!! RMH is an invaluable service and really do all they can to support families in their time of need.
This year to mark our boys 2nd year cranio free we feel we need to up the stakes and take on an even bigger challenge!! Myself, Michael and Eden's Grandad Angus have decided to do the Three Peaks Challenge in 24 hours - this means that we are climbing the highest mountain in Scotland, England and Wales one after another in 24 hours (or under!) this includes our travel time too! All together we will have climbed 11,180ft!!
Thank you for reading our story and for all the support we have had until this point. Please feel free to donate as little or as large as you like, everything goes towards keeping this wonderful house open.
