In September of this year I'm sailing across the Atlantic to Rio to raise awareness of prostate cancer and to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support and Prostate Cancer UK... and I need your support!!!

Why am I doing it?

Without people you’re nothing.... Joe Strummer 1952 - 2002

In truth, I’ve had a recent brush with prostate cancer. I'm lucky that it all turned out OK for me, but during the journey I’ve met some amazing people. Ordinary people who face adversity with such courage and positivity. The Macmillan ‘angels’, nurses who choose to spend their time ‘holding the hands’ of people with cancer. People like Professor Mark Emberton, a leading expert in prostate cancer treatment, who through his specialist skills changes the lives of people like you and me. Not least of all, take a look at all these company logos around this page, at the heart if all these companies are people who have chosen to support us in this and I am profoundly grateful to all of them.

Ultimately, it's about people, and the choices they make.

The Choice You Can Make

If any of this touches you, or anyone close to you, then i'd ask you to do 2 things.

1. If you are a man over 40 get a PSA blood test, and encourage everyone you know to get one done. The more we talk about it, the less of a taboo it will be. It's a small choice to take a small action that could save lives.

2. Sponsor me on this foolhardy challenge to race to Rio, and help raise funds for these amazing charities that help support people that weren't as lucky as I was.

About Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer kills 11,000 men a year, fact. If detected whilst still in the prostate, treatment options carry significant side effects and lifestyle changes. If the cancer has spread outside the prostate then the outlook is significantly worse.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to work out that early detection will, and does, save lives.

Early detection starts with a simple blood test, that’s it…
