Back Up's Kayak the Great Glen is back for 2019 - help us raise £15,000 to support people affected by spinal cord injury.

Story

Hi, I’m Rich. I was involved in a motorbike accident during a trip around Spain in 2014. This resulted in me having a spinal injury which has left me paralysed from the chest down. My family and I really struggled mentally and physically until I got involved with the charity Back Up. It wasn’t until I completed an activity course organised by Back Up that I realised how beneficial spending time with others in similar situations was to me. I learned more in that week than I had in 3 years.

The team will spend 4 full days kayaking from where the canal joins Fort William on the West coast of Scotland to Inverness in the East. The trail covers a total of 60 miles, including 22 miles of canal and 4 natural fresh water lochs and Loch Ness.

I will be completing the challenge with my stepson and mate, Niall. I am hoping that during the kayaking, Niall falls into the water as he is not used to washing! 😂😂😂
