Velothon Wales 2015 · 14 June 2015 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In October 2014 I made the decision to enter "Velothon Wales", which is a 140km (87ish miles) cycling sportive.
On Sunday 14th June 2015 I will be on the starting line in Cardiff City centre, the route will be going via Usk, Abergavenny in the Brecon Beacons (apparently there is a renowned 5km climb which includes gradients of 1:10), over to Caerphilly (incl a Caerphilly mountain climb) and back to Cardiff. Sounds easy enough!!!
My training in November took somewhat of a back seat as I came off and broke my collar bone and a rib or two. 8 weeks and an operation later I have been back in the saddle with a vengeance, covering 60+ miles per week and hoping to increase this as I improve, which is difficult with family and work constraints but I am being well supported by my wife Natasha and two young children, Grace and Freya who have been very accommodating and patient. As you all know; i am not known for my sporting prowess which makes this challenge pretty damn epic!!!This is however, nothing in comparison to the loss many families suffer due to still birth or neonatal death, such as we did in 2008. Fortunately the still birth and neonatal death society (SANDS) were on hand to help and support us, especially my wife; whom understandably took our loss very hard indeed.
With this in mind, i am pleased to commit myself to raising funds for this great cause; which strives to research and understand the reasons as to why so many parents find themselves in a situation like ours.
All donations would be greatly recieved.
Wish me luck, I have a feeling I am going to need it!
