Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I've walked up a few hills in my time - I've even walked hauled myself up a really tall volcano once.  How hard can it be to wander about in North Wales for a day climbing a couple more?  I met some people who said they were doing just that for charity - and they asked if I wanted to join them.

So I said yes, as you would.  Now - let this be a lesson to those of you out there who agree to things without suitable use of Google (other search engines are available).  We nearly all have a mobile phone, or a computer with access to the internet - so there's no excuse.  There are many reviews of this Welsh 3000s challenge.  It would have been easy to look at them all, and very logically conclude that this was a step too far.

Too late.  I've said yes.  I wonder whether I can put underpants on my head, stick two pencils up my nose and say "wubble".  Maybe not - I've seen that tried somewhere before.

So what is it?

Answer:  "In order to complete the Welsh 3000s Challenge you are required to have been at the top of all 15 of the mountains over 3000 ft in Wales within the space of 24 hours, without using any form of transport."  You start at the peak of Snowdon (and no we won't be getting the train up - it doesn't set off that early!) - and you finish at Foel Fras.  It's about 24 miles, plus getting up to Snowdon and down from Foel Fras.

Most reviewers agree that this is a serious step up from similar challenges like the national three peaks, so it's going to hurt, and no mistaking.

Now that we've established that this isn't just a nice jaunt through Snowdonia with a few mates - we get to the point.  I'd like you to help me raise money.  Martin House Hospice cares for children and young people with progressive life-limiting illnesses and provides support to their families. They are based in a purpose built hospice in Boston Spa, Wetherby and care for children and young people from throughout the Yorkshire region.

We're aiming, as a team, to raise as much as we possibly can - so please can I ask all of you to dig deep into your pockets and see whether you can spare as much as possible for a worthy cause that needs our support.
