Virgin London Marathon 2014 · 13 April 2014 ·

In collaboration with key partner organisations, we support people, regardless of their social or financial circumstances, to pursue a career in the built environment. We aim to raise awareness of the built environment, through our expert-led schools’ programme, My Environment My Future.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In 1992 I left school with no qualifications through academic difficulties and not a great deal of hope. I knew I wanted to become a surveyor, but who would take on a school leaver with no qualifications? Now, 20 years on, I am a Chartered Building Surveyor, a Fellow of the RICS, I have completed two degrees and I am a Partner of a firm called Martin Arnold Associates.

How did I do it?......with the help and support of the Chartered Surveyors Training Trust.

The Trust was set up 1985 by WCCS and provides 16 to 24 year olds with the life changing opportunity of a dept free and tutor supported surveying apprenticeship. They support young people to become Chartered Surveyors regardless of their academic, social or financial circumstances.

Since this time, the CSTT have help over 1000 young people become surveyors and I have come full circle, and actually now 'Chair' our fantastic board.

So, as Chairman of the Trust I consider it to be my duty to raise awareness and money for the CSTT. That is why I jumped out of a plane year and will be running 26.2 miles this year!!!

Many thanks in advance for your support. Richard
