Richard's 52 half marathons in 52 weeks challenge

52 half marathons in 52 weeks · 31 December 2021
UPDATE:
Challenge has now been completed despite the best efforts of COVID!
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Back on 17th January 2021 I woke up and thought I'd get my running for the year properly kick started by running a half marathon. Then the next week I did it again and then the week after that I did it again.
After a few weeks of this I decided to see how long I could keep this running streak going and started wonder if maybe I could do one a week for the year.
On Sunday 7th November I completed my 44th half marathon so I remain on track for 52 and it is now time to go public with this challenge and try to raise some money for a good cause (and it will also help to push me on as these become harder as the weather gets worse!)
Sadly earlier this year a family friend of ours, Paul Crowe, died unexpectedly at the age of just 54. His charity of choice was the Alan Shearer Foundation who do great work raising money for the Alan Shearer Centre in Newcastle which provides highly specialist, respite, residential and social facility for people with complex disabilities and acute sensory impairments.
As a result I've chosen this charity to raise money for as I hope this would make Paul happy.
Note: I want to actually try and make this 52 half marathons in 2021 so as I started slightly late this has meant that there was a week when I completed 2 and to be completely transparent the 44 to date do include 2 full marathons which I have counted as 4 half marathons!
