Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

So I have decided to take on something a 'little' challenging....those
of you that know me will read this and probably laugh and those that don't should know I have given myself only 5 weeks, to get from a rather unfit state of repair, to all action mountain climbing hero!

The challenge......An epic 18 day summit attempt of the highest
trekking peak in Nepal, Mera Peak (6476m). Situated deep in the Himalaya in the Makalu Baruntse national Park, it stands among giants. 'Trekking' is definitely an optimistic word - with phrases like 'ice axes', 'crampons' and 'insurance' policies covering evacuation over 600m' being thrown around so it's fair to say this is a Himalyan interpretation of a trek!

Given my mountain experience amounts to sliding down on my
face from various mountain pubs it's fair to say I am going to be pushing myself to my absolute limits.....

I am taking on this challenge as I felt it time to do something of note and contribute to a truly inspirational charity (M2M Group with Neverest Orthopaedics) created by my best mate Ed Jackson.

Ed suffered a spinal injury that left him paralysed from the neck down after a freak accident and was told he would never walk again. A
year on from his injury, he summited Snowdon and earlier this year the Gran Paradiso summit. His road to recovery has been simply inspirational and has included setting up the M2M Group (Millimetres to Mountains) which aims to raise money to build and fund a Spinal Injury Unit in Nepal.

The idea of standing on top of the world with him and beating him to the top is too hard to resist.

Here’s where I need a little help...

Through completing the climb I am aiming to raise in
excess of £3000, a mountain in itself. This will go towards the £250,000
needed to achieve the goal of building a new spinal unit. So dearest
friends, family, colleagues and Facebook lurkers, please dig deep and help me make a difference.

Any donation big or small would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks you for your support
