As my second last heat training session tonight happens with full kit I sincerely thank everyone of their generosity and support. This is going to be an amazing adventure!
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Over 2 years ago I signed up to do the 2011 Marathon Des Sables, which is a 6 day 250km (153 mile) self sufficient race across the sahara desert. All the competitors have to carry all of their own kit and supplies. As well as this, the major challenges of the race are the daily temperatures of up to 50C and the difficult terrain.
Running has given me a great amount of pleasure and challenge in my life, and I have decided that I will dedicate this ultra race to give something back.
There are two people that I am dedicating these charity donations for; both for my dad who unexpectedly died in October 2010, and to my mother-in-law that has been affected for the past 30 years with Hepatitis C from an infected blood transfusion after the birth of my wife.
The Hepatitis C Trust aims to raise awareness, reduce the stigma attached to the disease, and provide support for those who have Hep C.
To train for the MdS, I have already run 12 marathons and 6 ultra races over the past 3 years, and I will be running 6 other marathons and ultra races over the next 5 months. Please check out my blog for updates on my training and races!
Please give generously!
