Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

SOEC is a charity and social enterprise that has spent over 80 years enabling young people to access the outdoors in a safe and sustainable way. They offer a broad range of programmes and activities that help young people to develop the skills, values and attitudes neccessary to flourish in a challenging and ever changing world. You can find out more about them and the work they do here: https://www.soec.org.uk/

Tweeddale Youth Action is a youth led organisation that gives young people a safe space and alternative to bus stops and street corners. Through providing free opportunities for all we support young people to access advice, develop skills, confidence, a sense of belonging and responsibility within the community. You can find out more about them and the work they do here: https://www.tweeddaleyouth.co.uk/about-us

I am fundraising so that twelve young people, selected byTweedale Youth Action, can attend a three-day residential outdoor learning programme at SOEC Broomlee, a centre in the Scottish Borders village of West Linton.

My fundraising event is to cycle the Capital Trail, a 153 mile long bikepacking trail in Southern Scotland, that I intend to complete between the 20th and 23rd of May 2022. I am not much of a cyclist and this trip will require me to cycle further than I have ever cycled before in a day, and to do that for four days straight, over more challenging terrain than I have ever cycled, and whilst carrying more weight than I have ever cycled with. It's going to involve an unknown degree of pain and suffering to get round it, but that is the stuff that great adventures are made from. You can find out more about the route here: https://bikepackingscotland.com/capitaltrail/
