Richard Hancock - driving and raising funds for Eden Aid

Richard Hancock is raising money for IRT

Eden Aid · 23 July 2022

IRT supports long term development projects for refugees, internally displaced people and returnees in Jordan, South Sudan, Thailand and Uganda, by creating opportunities for those affected by forced displacement to live independently and transition from reliance on relief organisations.

Story

Dear friends

I have discarded my cloak of comfort and volunteered to drive for the Oxford based Eden Aid charity and very soon I hope to be part of a team driving mini-busses to the Ukraine border to deliver vital medical and humanitarian supplies and return with vulnerable refugees and their pets to host families in the UK.

Edenaid.org is entirely reliant on goodwill donations to keep going, and is partnered with the International Refugee Trust (IRT) so every penny goes directly to Eden Aid.

It costs around £2500 to send a minibus out, and there are four going each week. The trip will be an intensive 4 day exercise, driving through the night there and back to help give vulnerable Ukrainians a safer future.

To date, the charity has done 19 trips in 53 vehicles over 120,000 miles, delivering 163 pallets of aid and bringing back 324 displaced refugees to the UK as well as helping 98 others to new homes elsewhere in Europe, not to forget the  50 dogs, 33 cats and 1 guinea pig!

If you can spare a few pounds please do and use the Gift Aid option. I am trying to raise enough to cover one minibus initially.

I will update this when I know my shift and report back!

Thanks for reading and giving.
