Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Julie was my beloved wife of 18 years. She was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes around the age of 4. From that age she had to inject insulin twice daily to control her blood glucose levels. As she got older, and as her diabetes progressed she had to take increasing amounts and types of medication to try and counteract the various effects of the disease. Despite this, Julie didn’t let her diabetes define her.
More than 700 people die prematurely from diabetes each week in the UK - and sadly on Sunday the 19th February, Julie was one of those people. Her death was sudden and unexpected. She was only 52 years old. She was loving, kind, funny, and generous and will be greatly missed by her husband, family, friends, and colleagues.
Unfortunately, my mum, Helen also passed away on the 9th February 2023. She was a type 2 diabetic and her death was due to diabetic complications.
In honour of both my mum and Julie (and partly due to my own stupidity) I’m aiming to complete the Run Mhor Trilogy race series (a hilly 10K, half marathon, and full marathon) between April and August 2023. See https://tayfitness.com/events/run-mhor/
