Himalaya Trek 2022
Campaign by St Peter's Hospice (RCN 269177)
A team are trekking through the foothills of the Himalayas in an unforgettable and stunning opportunity to raise vital funds for St Peters Hospice

Story

I decided to take on this challenging Himalaya Trek for St Peter's Hospice for a number of personal and work reasons. The work of the Hospice makes a significant difference to those that need them, when it matters most.

This charity challenge takes place in the Annapurna region of the Himalayas of Nepal - home to some of the highest mountains in the world.  Climbing to the summit of Poon Hill at 3,210m is the highest altitude I will reach, having trekked for around 27 hours over 6 days, starting at an altitude of 1,200m. To put that into perspective, the top of Snowdon is 1,085m!

In my work with Towergate Insurance brokers I manage a team that specialises in and acts as advisors to a number hospices for their insurance solution . Through this connection, I get to see the amazing things the hospice network across the UK undertakes and the need, particularly at this time, to raise funding to continue to provide these essential services. I am really pleased to be able to support the hospice sector through this challenge

Personally I've seen first hand, through others, the support and the amazing difference this makes to the individual and to the wider family.

Any support you feel you can give will be really valued and appreciated and does make such a huge difference, and a big thank you to Towergate for supporting me in this challenge.

St Peter's Hospice is Bristol's ONLY adult hospice caring for local people with life-limiting illnesses. Our commitment is to improve the quality of life of patients while extending care and support to their families and loved ones. All of our care is provided free of charge, but it costs us around £20,000 a day to provide that care. For most of this money we rely on Gifts in Wills, donations, fundraising and our shops.
