Story

Thank you for taking time to visit our JustGiving page.

July 5th 2018 we lost a very dear friend in Richard (Dick) Hobley. On a sunny day in August last year we said our final farewells and it was suggested something should be done for charity in memory of Dick. What was, at the time, a throwaway drunken suggestion of running the Birmingham half marathon  was made. Well here we are, that idea has become a reality. 13th October 2019 fifteen 'athletes' will be taking part in what we like to call the Richard Hobley Charity Tour of Birmingham. A city Dick frequented most weekends. Our aim is to complete the 13.1 miles by running, walking or crawling to raise money for a charity Dick used to support on a regular basis, Action Medical Research, a charity dedicated to saving and changing children's lives. For more info please visit www.action.org.uk.

Our team is made up of: Andy Tiddeman, Wayne Sadler, Ade Coppin, Simon Stanton, Ann Stanton, Kristian Starkey, Gary Fletcher, Diz Ramsey, Bev Tapp, Julie Cheatle, Jim Savage, Sarah Savage, Mark Smith, Jim Fletcher & Carl Whitley.

I am sure that on the day Dick will be looking down on us, SoCo in hand, laughing as the only time we used to see Dick run was to the back door of the pub or to be the one to get the round in Wetherspoons.

In these days when most people do not have a lot of disposable income, if you can donate even a small amount for a worthy cause and help us remember someone who is greatly missed, it will make all our aches and pains worthwhile.

Thanks for taking time to read our story and your generosity.
