Story
Hi guys thank you for visiting my page and hopefully donating all at the same time!
For as long as I can remember I have always wanted to run and take take in the most iconic race on the planet. Every year growing up when this race was on my mum would put the tv on and put on the marathon, to be honest none of us had a clue who anybody in it was but it was just amazing to watch people run this race. Something about it where you just had to keep watching. For hours we would sit there watching the elite right down to the people dressing up, it didn’t matter who was on but it got our full attention. I have carried on this same tradition in my house and the kids love it.
For the last 3 Years I have applied for Ballot entries and also charity positions. Every year I have received a no and was gutted. It was the same this year. I told my wife Stacey that I wasn’t going to apply anymore as I get it just wasn’t meant to be. Then out of the blue Make-A-Wish UK contacted me to say a place had become available due to injury’s and drop outs. I jumped at the chance to run for this fantastic charity.
Whilst I do not have any direct stories or encounters linking me to this charity what I do have is 2 beautiful children who both Stacey and I would do anything for. I had some idea into what this charity was all about and who it helped but when you really look into what they do it is really heartbreaking. If you don’t know much about them Make-A-Wish UK grant magical wishes to enrich the lives of children and young people fighting life-threatening conditions.
Granting their wish provides seriously ill children with hope for the future, strength to cope and resilience to fight their condition. They’re given quality time away from the daily realities of living with their condition and given the chance to make magical memories they can treasure forever – whatever their future may hold.
Whilst it is a dream of mine to run this race to raise as much money for this fantastic charity would also just be as much of an achievement.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and please help me along my training and race by donating whatever you can!
