Tiggy and Johnnie's Trek on The Great Wall of China · 17 March 2017

Across the UK, 5.8 million unpaid carers support loved ones who are older, disabled, or seriously ill. Carers UK provides essential advice, information, and support while campaigning to transform understanding and win critical developments in carers’ rights.

Story

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We all know family or friends who are or have been carers for their loved ones, and in our case this includes Polly's cousin Tiggy and her husband Johnnie who have cared for one another through cancer.

We will be joining them and a team of their friends and colleagues in October to trek for six days along a steep and challenging section of The Great Wall of China, much of which has not been fully restored. We are working hard to become fit enough to take on this daunting task which aims overall to raise £50,000 for Carers UK ( www.carersuk.org )

It is hard to believe that each day another 6,000 people become carers, but many will need the help, guidance and support provided by this much needed and hugely worthwhile charity as they find themselves thrust into the role with little or no prior experience or preparation.

We are of course paying all of our own costs for this trek, so everything that you donate will go straight to where it is most needed. We have been set a challenging target but are confident that with your help we will achieve it! All donations however large or small will be gratefully received- THANK YOU for your support!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
