Jami is here for young people and adults whose mental illness and distress makes everyday life a struggle. We guide them through their mental health recovery, support their families and carers, and educate community leaders to build our collective resilience.

Story

anks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On August 18th at c.7am, I will finish my Ironman training and start my Ironman event. I've trained super-hard and diligently for this, more so than any other sporting event I've ever done.

I hope that I'll finish the course in around 12 hours; so that's 12 hours to complete a 3.9km swim (156 laps of a 25m pool), a 180km bike ride (so from C. London to Cambridge...and back) and a marathon (42.2km). In case that wasn't hard enough, my marathon will likely (hopefully) start at c.2.30pm, so pretty-much the hottest part of the day! I'll burn c.12,000 calories throughout the whole day and lose over 6lbs during the race itself.

Whilst this is an endeavour I originally set out to do as a personal journey, having paid 100% of my own costs for coaching, training,
equipment, nutrition, physio!, etc and having put hundreds of hours of effort into getting ready whilst also balancing family and work, I now have the opportunity to ask you all to help me raise money to support mental health charities, and JAMI specifically. Whilst often difficult to recognise, mental health can affect anyone, does affect nearly 1/4 of everyone but continues to be misunderstood by many, even when the effects can have devastating impacts on the individual and the community.

Please give as generously as you can; every penny will make a difference.
