Team CFC: "Celebrating" Rich's 20 Years Cancer free!

20 Years, 21yr old, 2021, 221Miles in a Day. · 3 July 2021
Many of you seeing this page will know all about CFC already, but if not:
Approximately 2,400 children and young people (up to, and including the age of 18) are diagnosed with cancer each year in the UK. We help children to regain their physical fitness, strength and confidence by giving them new bikes, adapted trikes and specialist support during treatment and into recovery.
This year is a special year for me, it is 20 Years since cancer came calling. Fortunately with the help of the NHS, some incredible doctors and nurses, and the support of my amazing family and friends, I lived to see many more cancer free days.
Since then I have felt so strongly that I needed to give something back, sometimes I still feel guilty that I made it when so many don't and every time I hear of someone for whom all the horrors and treatments don't work and Cancer takes them anyway. It's a horrific disease and no-one should have to go through it, but if they do as a young person, we want to give them something positive. Cycling gave me so much during my recovery and continues to be my biggest passion, so to mark the occasion we are going to ride the 221miles, back to my hometown in Essex and the place that saved my life and saw me cycling round the streets whenever I could during cancer treatment.
I know you guys have supported me so much in the past, but this year has been very difficult for CFC with very few fund-raising events still going ahead in COVID times. It would be incredible if you could spare any amount to help keep us helping as many children living with cancer as we can!
Since the charity began in 2005 we have awarded over 6,000 bikes and trikes and we can only continue to do this with the support of our amazing fundraisers!
Thanks so much, hopefully see you soon,
Rich x
