Story
In normal times 2.65m older people feel they have no one to turn to for help and around 3.9m older people consider TV to be their main form of company. However COVID-19 has made this much worse and the charities that support them are also devastated by the cancellation of fund raising events. Donating to this page will help the national Age UK to continue providing vital services that offer companionship, advice and support for older people facing later life alone at this most difficult time.
Since 2018 I have been aiming to run a marathon in under 3 hours. I failed in Nice, Brighton and Frankfurt. But I hit my target in Gloucester on 19th January 2020, however, I was misdirected with 15 others in the race and ended up racing 27.7 miles (instead of 26.2) - this has been formally registered with IAAF. I run 7 days a week, covering between 70 and 80 miles. I trained very hard to get a clean sub-3 hour time in Brighton, but now I need to do it differently. Treadmill running is so boring whereas racing in front of big crowd is motivational. I am hoping that doing this for charity, posting updates on this page and doing a thank you lap up and down my road will keep me focused.
