I first benefited from the opportunities that Brathay give young people in July 2006, on a trekking expedition which helped me develop and through the organisation I have made great life long friends.  I have seen the help they provide for young people and the chances they give them to overcome difficulties. This is a cause I feel passionate about due a period of depression I had in my teenage years, for an organisation to take the time and effort to help build up and inspire people from all walks of life and give them the social skills and confidence to achieve is a wonderful thing.

I signed up to my first marathon in January 2015 and several months of enjoyable training later, in truth that’s the bit that most took me by surprise how much I took to the training, I found myself on the start line of the Robin Hood Marathon. I make no excuses for being one of the most competitive men you’ll ever meet, getting across the finish line was never in doubt, the time was, I set the personal goal of sub 3:30 and promptly reduced myself to tears with a 3:23. 

To run a marathon was never in doubt for me, since a young boy I always assumed I would complete one, I am by no means down playing them, they are tough and they can break us more easily than we can conquer them. But to do 10 in 10 days, well this terrifies me!
