We fund medical research to treat and eliminate kidney disease.

Charity Registration No. 800952

Oh my god what have I done...

I never thought I would get the chance to run my first marathon having attempted to get a place for the last 5 or so years, so I thought this year i would try and see if I could earn a place through a charity that means something to me. Having tried a couple and got rejected I gave up hope of running in the 2018 London Marathon. Then a work colleague sent me an email from The South West Thames Kidney fund and they kindly offered me a place. Kidney disease is not something you hear people talking about much and yet it affects so many people. If I can raise money to help those that suffer with kidney problems then that will not only mean a lot to me but also for the charity that I am running for.

My dad has dialysis 3 times per week due to kidney failure and I know others who are friends, family of friends and close family that also have kidney problems. If i can raise money to go towards the research and treatment of this unspoken health issue then i will have made not only my dad proud but also those who suffer with kidney problems.

I hope that with your support I can reach my target and in return I aim to complete the marathon within 4 hours and 30 mins.

Below is taken from The South West Thames Kidney Fund website

"The lives of many people, and those close to them, are seriously affected by kidney disease. Kidney failure is an extremely debilitating illness.  Cases of kidney disease are rising rapidly each year. Kidney disease can be inherited and passed down through the generations. Some patients end up needing regular dialysis and some have successful transplants. Sadly, many others have died.
Kidney research is the only answer to find a prevention or a cure."
