Yorkshire 3 Peak Challenge · 22 September 2017

SCF upholds the philanthropic tradition of the Salters' Company by distributing grants to causes close to Salters' hearts, including our military affiliates, educational establishments and City institutions. We also award larger project grants to support vulnerable people in London.

Story

TT Electronics is a global provider of engineered-electronics for performance critical applications.

I am undertaking the Yorkshire three peaks challenge to raise money for Salters' Charitable Foundation alongside the Woking and Sam Beare Hospice, the charity TT Electronics local team has selected to support from our head office in Woking.  The Salters' Charitable Foundation is a 100 year institution whose aim is to excite and encourage young people to take up science, technology, engineering and math's subjects in their school curriculum.  Together we have an ambition of doubling the number of children who could attend one of these sessions to over 15,000.  This is important for the sustainability of our industry and I am passionate about supporting young people who are considering studying STEM subjects and entering careers in our industry.

The Yorkshire three peaks challenge takes on the peaks of Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, a hike of approx. 24 miles (and includes 5,200ft (1,525m) of ascent).  The peaks form a part of the Pennine range, and encircle the head of the valley of the River Ribble, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.  Along with the TT Electronics team, I am aiming to complete the challenge in under 12 hours.
