The Thyroid...do you know where your thyroid is? Do you know what it does or what it looks like?
I certainly didn't until early 2017 when I discovered a painless lump on my neck. After many tests and worry I had a hemithyroidectomy (half my thyroid gland removed). The lump on my thyroid was benign (not cancer).
I had a lucky escape but this brush with what could have been has greatly changed my outlook on life. I vowed to enter the ballot for the London marathon and if successful, to run and raise money for the Butterfly Thyroid Cancer Trust. I was successful and I will run the London marathon in April 2018.
