London Cycling Campaign is a 12,000 strong membership based charity. We make sure that everyone who cycles, or wants to cycle, has a voice in Greater London. Our mission is to transform our city into a healthier, cleaner and happier place to live where cycling is a choice for everyone.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In August 2012 Dan Harris, MOO’s Community Manager, was knocked off his bike and was killed. He was 28.

It was an incredibly sad day at MOO, and a tragedy for Dan’s girlfriend, family and friends.  Dan was a very funny and much-loved guy, and he is sorely missed by his friends and colleagues at MOO.

Dan was just cycling home, as many of us do every day. Commuter cyclists in London have doubled over the past ten years, and MOO HQ sits one block from Clerkenwell Road, the busiest cycle route in London. Its popularity is no surprise. Cycling is just brilliant: it’s virtually cost free (once you’ve bought the bike), as well as being great for the environment and for your health.

However, between 2010 and 2015 there were 23,000 cycling accidents in London and 80 deaths. We need to do much more to encourage more people to take up cycling and to make it safer for everyone who does.

The London Cycling Campaign is the voice for cyclists who want to cycle in London. They campaign to make cycling safe and inviting for everyone by lobbying decision-makers at all levels, presenting them with evidence-based arguments for encouraging bicycle use before motorised transport.

In September I will be attempting the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in memory of Dan and to raise money for the LCC. Along with 50 other MOOsters I will attempt to cover the 24 mile hike in less than 12 hours, across an elevation of 5,200 feet.

Please help me hit my target of £5,000 and help fund a safer London for cyclists.
