I am taking part in the Walk in the Dark 2019 (27th - 28th April 2019) for the Rosemere Cancer Foundation. I will be walking 11 miles from Chorley hospital to Preston hospital through the night and hope to raise as much money as possible for this fantastic charity, which is something that is very close to my heart.
So the reasons I signed up to this event is because I want raise as much money for this great foundation, which helps treat thousands of patients every year. The Rosemere Centre carries out outstanding care to people who are effected by cancer and are going through difficult times. The staff at this centre are amazing and they certainly do go above and beyond to provide excellent care and support.
From a personal perspective, the reason I am taking part is that in June 2017 I was diagnosed with having skin cancer (Melanoma). As you can imagine this came as a massive shock in which it left me numb and had no idea what was going to happen. A lot has happened since I was diagnosed, where I have gone through a number of surgeries and treatments that has got me where I am today. I am still being treated at
the Rosemere Cancer Centre and couldn’t ask anymore from the fantastic staff that work there. One thing I have learned in just under two years is that you can’t let cancer beat or control you and it is important to live a positive life.
