I am wanting to raise £12,700 which at the present exchange rate is the amount required to enable INF to provide smokeless stoves for all 356 households in the village of Natharpu in the remote northern district of Mugu in western Nepal. According to official statistics, Mugu is the least developed of all 75 districts in Nepal. When the local people were asked in village meetings to name what in their opinion the community most needed, they put smokeless stoves at the top of their list.
Chest and eye problems resulting from smoke-filled houses are among the commonest health issues in the community, with women and children the most affected. Smokeless stoves would help solve these issues. They would also, by burning wood more efficiently, save on time gathering firewood (again benefiting women) and reduce pressure on the fast-disappearing forests.Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
