Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page for Shooting Star Chase.

Our story:

I'm supporting Shooting Star Chase because of the fantastic support they have given to me, my wife and our amazing little boy Kyffin. I can say first-hand that the work they do is absolutely amazing.

Kyffin has a very rare neuromuscular condition, which means he has some additional health needs. Despite this, he is a very bright and happy little boy, who has the most beautiful smile and the cheekiest nature. You can read a little more about Kyffin here: https://www.shootingstarchase.org.uk/kyffins-story/

Thankfully Kyffin is thriving, but we wouldn't have managed this well without the support and care provided to us by the friendly team at Shooting Star House in Hampton. Respite weekends allowed my wife and I to catch up with friends and take some time off to relax. Sparkle Daycare gave Kyffin the confidence to explore and grow as all toddler's should. And the hospice at home service gave us the opportunity to do household jobs, like gardening or housework - little things that you might take for granted, but having the time to get them done is a huge help.

Shooting Star Chase did everything to support us without asking for anything in return; fundraising is my way of saying thank you.

I've raised money for Shooting Star Chase before, but this will be my biggest challenge to date. Running the marathon will be also be a poignant moment for me because, after three and a half years of support for Kyffin, we're going to be saying goodbye to our Shooting Star family this year. Kyffin is doing so well that it's time to say goodbye to the charity that helped us when it counted the most.

We're incredibly proud of Kyffin and everything he's achieved. He's a totally different little boy from the one who was referred to the service in 2014, and it's a real positive to be leaving in this way. We'll be sad though to say goodbye to the great people we've met (and whom Kyffin loves) as part of our journey.
