Rich`s Legacy

Team: Remembering Richard Elbourne

In memory of Richard Elbourne

Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund is the only national charity dedicated solely to beating pancreatic cancer through research. Survival rates are low, so new research is vital. In the past, this cancer received little attention. With your help, we can change this so more people beat pancreatic cancer.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

A team of us are trying to raise money for Pancreatic research as it is very poorly funded and also has one of the lowest survival rates of any cancer. We are also trying to raise awareness about this terrible disease.

The team and events as follows

My friend Mark Tyson and I are taking part in the Hull 10K on Sunday June 3rd whilst my brother Lawrence, his wife Helen and my brother Antony with his eldest son Nick and Jon Featherstone (Antony`s brother in-law)are all taking part in the Humber half marathon on June 24th.

Richard was only 52 when he was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer and up until then he had been a very fit, sporting and active non-smoker all his life which made coming to terms with the magnitude of the disease for all of us very difficult.Richard fought a very brave fight against this awful disease and never gave up hope or was ever negative about the future he just made the most of the time he had with his loving, caring wife Sharon and also with his lovely step daughter Gemma, husband Rob and Rich`s little cracking Grandson Ellis.Sadly we lost Rich on April 2nd of this year aged only 54 which left me believing that the adage "only the good die young" could have been written about Rich.He was such a popular man and is very sadly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
