Football stadium tour of the South Coast · 15 July 2021
Usually a group of middle aged (apart from me as I’m still very young) men would take up the challenge each spring and ride from Essex to Amsterdam in aid of various charities. This year is a little different as we can’t travel across the water, so we agreed (Steve told us) to stay local. Starting from Upminster we will be heading into London to visit some truly iconic football stadiums, starting at the Den (Millwall FC) we will then cover as many of the London Bridges as we can before heading South to take in the sights of Sussex, (Amex Stadium Brighton), Hampshire (St Mary’s stadium Southampton) and finally Dorset (Vitality Stadium Bournemouth). All this over a period of 2 days. A distance in excess of 160 miles. We are doing this to raise much needed funds for Prostate cancer UK. This charity is very significant to Steve having lost his father to cancer previously. This is a ride far longer than anything we have attempted before and it will certainly be different to the lovely flat country side we have become accustomed to in Holland. If you can sponsor us we would be eternally grateful, as would, I’m sure, a number of men who every year suffer with this horrible illness. Thank you. Dam it’s gonna hurt.
