SENAC provides independent advice on getting the right help and support in school for children with learning difficulties and disabilities in Northern Ireland. SENAC gives advice and advocacy on a range issues like assessments, statements, appeals and helping parents prepare for meetings.

Story

There are 68,000 children in Northern Ireland with special educational needs (SEN), and many of them do not have access to adequate support and resources to meet their learning needs.

Without support, children can feel isolated, anxious and stressed, leading to high levels of absenteeism or even them dropping out of school completely.

The Special Educational Needs Advice Centre (SENAC) provides confidential, independent advice and advocacy on behalf of children with SEN.

I am currently Chairperson of SENAC and have seen first-hand how amazing the staff and volunteers are in providing support for 700-1000 families each year.

However, demand is increasing and its core services are under pressure, and have limited capacity, due to funding challenges.

SENAC is a small charity and does not receive any government funding. Any donation is truly appreciated and it will make a real, long-lasting difference to the lives of children with SEN in Northern Ireland.
