Autism is a lifelong disability which affects how people communicate and interact with the world.
People with Asperger syndrome see, hear and feel the world differently to other people. If you have Asperger syndrome, you have it for life – it is not an illness or disease and cannot be 'cured'.
My daughter Lily was diagnosed a few years ago with Aspergers. She is a bright, vibrant and energetic girl but she struggles with lots of aspects of everyday life.
Lily would describe herself as an 'Aspie Girl' & she understands that because her brain is brighter and faster than everyone else's she needs a bit more help. The support Elaine and her team give to Lily and our family is essential and without it Lily wouldn't be able to cope but this charity is in need of your help.
Elaine who runs AFA is a one woman marvel. Her personal sacrifices and dedication to families like our own is amazing but with your help she can continue her brilliant work and reach out to support more families like our own. AFA doesn't receive any government support so funding from donations is essential to keep this charity going.
Rich and I plan to put ourselves through 24 hours of pain to raise money for AFA. Running 5 mile loops we will take it in turns to keep running through the day and night to reach our goal of two marathons each - 104 miles!!
Dig deep please and help us please.
