Ride for Rainbow 2017 · 22 January 2017

For Life Thailand brings care, equality and opportunity to disabled children in Thailand. We support day-care centres, family-based care, physiotherapy and the rehabilitation of children from institutions back into communities. Our goal is to support children, families and communities in Thailand.

Story

Wasan and Chariya Saenwian, the founders and directors of CCD, are taking on the challenge of cycling 70km from Ayutthaya to Bangkok, where they will cross the finish line at Rainbow House, the hub of all CCD projects.

Tom Thongjapo, Thailand's number 1 wheelchair fencer, and one of
our CCD staff, is also taking on the challenge, but he is going to push himself in his wheelchair for the 70km!!! Tom used to live in one of our independent living homes, but has now moved our into his own flat. He has done a degree in Computer Technology, and is now doing a masters in Sports Management. He came close to qualifying for the Brazil Paralympics, but narrowly missed out on the qualifying.

They are doing this as a fundraising push at the start of 2017,
as well as to challenge themselves and improve their health. They are the type of directors who lead by example for donors, supporters, volunteers and staff.

The last two years fundraising within Thailand has been hard due to the state of the economy, and we need to push harder to raise funds to carry on CCD's fantastic work. They are asking us all to dig in harder to raise funds for 2017, but not without being willing themselves to put in hours of training, and blood, sweat and tears!

CCD has no less than 10 projects working with over 400 disabled
children in 3 provinces across Thailand. The projects offer a holistic approach to the problem of disabled children getting abandoned due to their disabilities - we offer residential and day care to children who have been abandoned by their families to government institutions, as well as community preventative work, using early intervention to empower families to raise their disabled children at home. Finally, we also run independent living homes for young adults, vocational training and facilitating our young people into employment and living independently fully integrated into Thai society.

For Life is CCD's partner charity in the UK which raises money
for CCD, as well as screening and training volunteers from the UK. If you are a UK tax payer, and donate through this site, CCD will also get the tax back on your donation. All your money will come through to support CCD in Thailand.
