Age Scotland, Scotland's national charity for older people, works with and for older people, with a vision of making Scotland a great place to grow older.

Story

Please sponsor me online.

The 'Bike the Nile' event runs from the 6th to 13th October 2003. I will cycle for 5 whole days, completing a course of 400km from Luxor to Aswan and back to Luxor. I will be the only Scot taking part in this event.
My objective is to raise a minimum of £2500 sponsorship money, but I am hoping to raise £5000. It is an ambitious target, but it's for a really good cause. All monies raised will be kept and spent in Scotland.
You may ask why am I doing this and the answer is fairly simple. This is a personal challenge for me at 54 years of age with a real objective - to raise money for a deserving cause and to show people that if you are over 50 you can still undertake physical challenges and feel the better for it. Sometimes people think the over 50's are less able than their younger counterparts - I am about to prove otherwise.
I am currently General Manager of Age Concern Enterprises Scotland Ltd and our profits go directly to Age Concern. It also gives me first hand knowledge of the invaluable work they do for and on behalf of 'Older People' in Scotland.

It's the most efficient way for me to raise funds for my charity. If you are a UK taxpayer your donation will be increased by almost a third at no cost to you.

Both myself and my chosen charity really appreciate your donation. Any amount will make a difference but please try to give generously!

Many thanks.
