Story
Having being diagnosed with end stage kidney failure at the age of 23 and going through dialysis and a transplant by the age of 30, Rish knows the huge impact kidney disease can have on an individual and their loved ones. Being her closest friend, Liyan has first hand seen the impact that kidney disease can have on someone. Doing this challenge is their way of giving a little something back. The NKF Water Challenge is to help support kidney patients and their families, by taking part in the challenge you will not only be supporting the vital work of the NKF, you will be hydrating your kidneys.
Message from Rish - anyone who knows me knows how much I struggle to drink plain water and keeping my fluid levels up are essential for my kidneys so this will be a real challenge for me! As with all charities, NKF have struggled with a lack of fundraising due to Covid, so every penny helps
Message from Liyan - I have decided to take on this water challenge with Rish this month to raise awareness of the difficulties that those with kidney disease face on a daily basis. It's something I have gained a deeper understanding of being Rish's best friend but her strength is something that always inspired me. She is the strongest person I know who is able to take on any challenge that life throws at her. I think I'll definitely be missing my morning cup of tea to wake me up but I really hope that it will be all worthwhile if we can raise awareness and hit our donation target!
